Man City 3-0 The Red Devils: Hemp on target in City dominant win.

Just as the recent storm hit the northern region the prior day, Manchester City swept Manchester United away at the their home ground. It was a statement three goal triumph for Andrée Jeglertz’s side due to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Shaw and Lauren Hemp. It was a result that firmly established their championship potential as they strengthened their position at the league summit.

Successive Setbacks for United

This scoreline signalled successive WSL setbacks for Marc Skinner’s side for the maiden instance since spring 2024, putting them seven points off the table toppers with their title hopes in serious doubt.

Manchester United's ability to balance league and European soccer with a limited roster has been a frequently analyzed issue since they qualified for the UCL. Shortly later, they had a third goal after a quick shift in possession saw Hemp allowed the space to fire a effort home from range.

Final Period

The primary change came from the United manager at the half-time as Malard was introduced for Terland but by this time it was futile to change the course of the contest. Former City player Jess Park came most likely to score, striking the post, but the visitors were lacking in ideas and failed to record a single shot on goal.

The home side, on the other hand, could have increased their cushion when a superb Vivianne Miedema pass sent Shaw away only for her to miss the chance but it mattered little to the hosts.
