The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Anger Over Size Modifications

Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.

This online marketplace has altered its size classifications for women's and children's garments but did not contact every member regarding the update.

Social Media Response

Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.

The company said the updated approach better aligns with similar services.

They have suggested members to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.

Sizing System Modifications

Previously, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.

The new system has a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.

User Stories

A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".

"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

A different member, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she said.

Necessary Adjustments

Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she said.

Platform Context

The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.

It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: previously, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
