Toy Story 5 Teaser Pits The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 years since the first Toy Story movie debuted, launching Pixar as a leading film company and introducing viewers to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a brief look into the plot but keeping viewers wondering how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang
The preview reveals Bonnie — who inherited Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a latest toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer avoids is what Woody is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a carnival and assisting prize toys find good homes.
Surely, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with him. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?
Connections from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before departing for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the insignia attached to her outfit.
It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the toys.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
